Access control security systems combine Access control systems hardware and access control software to authenticate users onto a network. While this solution might consist of a strong password, it may also include a physical access component such as access control cards, electronic keypads, a biometric reader (i.e. thumbprint reader) or an algorithmic combination that is only valid at a given point in time.

Control Key recommends the RSA SecureID and Vasco " RSA and Vasco two-factor authentication systems " to provide secure authentication to remote access solutions.

These systems provide a cost effective method of providing strong authentication to central networks for home or mobile workers through a central firewall and/or VPN appliance.

SecureID Authenticator

Each SecureID authenticator has a unique symmetric key that is combined with a powerful algorithm to generate a new code every 60 seconds. Only the RSA ACE / Server software knows which number is valid at that moment in time for that user/authenticator combination.

Vasco Authenticator

The Vasco Digipass is a simple to deploy and manage two factor authentication system using the "something you know, something you have" technique. The user enters a username and simple PIN and then enters the unique code of numbers that appears on the token's LCD screen.
